  • Where will the shoot be?
We are currently between permanent studio spaces (looking to upgrade from our last place). For now we a use a variety of studios located near the DTLA arts district for our shoots.
  • What will the shoot be like?
At Steelmont Studio we run a low-stress set. We will take our time, make sure we’re getting you what you need, hopefully while having a bit of fun. Chris will direct you as he shoots in between sips of coffee. Music will be played. Movies and TV will be discussed.
  • Can I see the images while we shoot?
Absolutely! We will review what we’re getting as we go, thus ensuring success!
  • What clothing should I bring?
A good rule of thumb is to bring clothes that match the type of characters you think you’ll be auditioning for in the coming season. Best to talk about that with your reps, people you've worked with, or people who know you well - ahead of time. Bring an extra look or two in case one doesn’t work, but no need to bring your entire closet. (Avoid pure white, logos, and loud patterns.)
  • What do you mean by “Looks”?
A “Look” is one outfit, paired with one background scene, and one type of light. These days it’s a good idea to have a few different looks in your portfolio depending on what type of role you’re going out for.
  • What are the "Branding/PR" shots?
Branding/PR photos are a good option for people who want images that showcase a bit more personality, or perhaps to feature them in a totally different light. These can vary from standard 3/4 body commercial photos, to extremely lit, closeup beauty fashion photographs. It depends on what your branding demands. If you choose the Branding/PR photos, we'll be in touch about what kind of looks you want.
  • When do I receive my pictures?
In 2-3 days following the shoot you’ll get an email to an online gallery of your images. From there you can download, share with your representation, and make retouching selects.
  • Can I use the pictures anywhere?
You can use the photos for any and all personal marketing from now until forever - on your website, casting websites, imdb, in a playbill, printed out for auditions, all social media, etc. For any publications however, please point them to Steelmont Studio as we retain copyright. Don’t worry, we will never not allow a publication to use it, we just like to make sure we get credit.
  • Do I need a makeup artist?
It is highly recommended that you use a makeup artist during your shoot. Once you book with us, we will provide you with a list of makeup artists that you can reach out to for your shoot date. They'll be there on set during the shoot to help with touchups and any changes you might require. They will be paid separately from Steelmont Studio (usually with cash or venmo). You can also use your own makeup artist, or feel free to do it yourself. However, it is a good idea to arrive makeup ready if that is the case, as someone not used to to doing makeup for headshots might eat up a lot of your session time if they’re not careful.
  • Do you require a deposit? How do I pay?
We do require a non-refundable deposit of $150 to reserve your spot. This applies to your final balance which you will pay on the day of the shoot. We accept credit cards, cash, and zelle. Once we finalize a shoot date, we'll email you a link to your own portal where you can view the invoice and easily pay the deposit.
  • What if I have to reschedule?
If for any reason you need to reschedule your session, please notify us a minimum of 3 full business days before the shoot. We can only accommodate one reschedule per booking. After that, unfortunately, you will lose your deposit. Be sure to tell your management to keep that time free of auditions/meetings.
